Discontinuing CRAM-MD5 Authentication

~ 1 min read

On March 25 2019, Neomailbox will discontinue support for the CRAM-MD5 authentication method for SMTP and POP3 / IMAP connections.

CRAM-MD5 authentication was useful in the past in conjunction with hardware tokens for authentication. However this method of hardware token authentication is no longer in use by any Neomailbox users.

If your email client is set to use CRAM-MD5 as the authentication method for either SMTP or POP3 / IMAP, you will need to change it to “PLAIN” or “Password” authentication instead.
