SSL Secured IMAP and SMTP with Apple Mail

To configure Apple Mail for SSL secured IMAP and SMTP access with Neomailbox, follow the steps below.

Note that this guide assumes your account is hosted in the US. If your account is hosted in Switzerland, you must use the server name neomailbox.net everywhere in the configuration, rather than neomailbox.com.

If you're using Mail for the first time:

(If you've already used Mail before on the computer you're setting up for use with your Neomailbox account, see the "If you've already set up Mail before" section below).

When you start Mail, it will present you with a Welcome to Mail screen, where you can fill out your Full Name, email address, and password, as below:

Click Continue, and then skip ahead to the section "Configuring Your Account" below.

If you've already set up Mail before:

Open Mail, and select Mail > Preferences from the main menu.

On the Preferences screen, select Accounts from the toolbar, and click the '+' button at the bottom left of the window.

In the Add Account window that appears, enter your Full Name, email address, and password, as below:

Click Continue, and then proceed as described in the section "Configuring Your Account" below.

Configuring Your Account

When you click Continue on the previous window, Mail will try to auto-discover the correct mail servers to use and will then pop up this window:

Click Cancel on this window, and Mail will then take you to the Incoming Mail Server configuration, which you should fill out with your account details, as below:

Click Continue, and then fill out the details for the Outgoing Mail Server configuration, as below:

Click Continue, and Mail will now show you a Account Summary window. Click Create on this.

Your account is now set up. However, there's one more setting that you should change for better security. Select Mail > Preferences from the main menu, then click on the Viewing icon on the Preferences toolbar, and uncheck the check-box for "Display remote images in HTML messages", as below:

Close the Preferences window.

That's it. You should be able to send and receive mail now.
